Lewis Hamilton and George Russell gave Mercedes its first double podium result of the 2023 season in Spain, after the introduction of a massive upgrade package in Monaco the previous month. Hamilton battled Alonso's Aston Martin for most of the race and finished third in the recent Canadian Grand Prix, while Russell crashed on lap 12 and later retired in the race. Alongside the Aston Martin AMR23 machine, the German team's W14 competitor is steadily climbing the ranks to become the second-best vehicle on the starting grid. As a result of the firm's choice to adopt a new design philosophy, Mercedes' improvement for Monaco will be followed up by another substantial alteration at Silverstone, with a more modest package planned for later in the season.

F1: Mercedes Targeting Austria and Silverstone for Race Win
Although Mercedes' W14 is not quite complete—there is still room for improvement in areas including top speed, DRS, and traction out of low-speed corners—the team has announced that they would bring a new, significant package to the British Grand Prix. First up is Austria's Red Bull Ring, where chief technical officer Mike Elliott anticipates a favourable track layout for the Mercedes vehicle.
Mercedes spent almost a year puzzling about how to improve their performance, but after adopting a fresh approach, they saw immediate results. In terms of translating simulation data into on-track performance, Elliot said the Silver Arrows were "really pleased" and saw it as something they could grow upon.

F1: Mercedes to Bring More Updates to Silverstone Grand Prix
Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff said that the team will bring a revised W14 to the British Grand Prix. As a result of their double podium performance in Spain and Lewis Hamilton's second-place finish in Canada, Mercedes has moved up to second in the Constructors' standings after abandoning the zero sidepod notion in Monaco.
Wolff has said that the next step would be a major upgrade package at Silverstone, suggesting that the improvements made in Monaco were never meant to put the team in contention with Red Bull. The current points deficit between the British driver and the Red Bull star, Max Verstappen, is 93 points.
