Max Verstappen's career is now in trouble due to his father Jos's demands that Red Bull Formula 1 chief Christian Horner be fired. This comes as the team and their three-time world champion celebrated a crushing victory in Bahrain. Hidden fractures inside the sport's top-ranked team have been revealed by the first accusations of wrongdoing against Horner by a female colleague, which he strongly denied and which an independent investigation later rejected.
Reports indicate that the Austrian side of the corporation is not very enthusiastic, despite the fact that Chalerm Yoovidhya, a Thai billionaire and main owner of the energy drink brand, openly supported Horner in Bahrain. The female employee and Horner were the first targets of the scandal, but now people are starting to wonder if it's about more than just them. Key managerial individuals inside the Red Bull organisation were involved in a larger power struggle from the beginning. The discreet Austrian energy drink manufacturer Red Bull made an official comment on the subject last month, prompting the public disclosure.
F1: Verstappen to Switch to Mercedes?
After Lewis Hamilton's announcement that he will be joining Ferrari alongside Charles Leclerc, rumours began to circulate regarding possible candidates to fill Mercedes' vacant seat for the 2025 Formula 1 season. All possibilities are being considered for the open position, according to Toto Wolff, Mercedes' team principal.
One of the names that keeps popping up as a possible Mercedes driver is Andrea Kimi Antonelli, a 17-year-old who is presently racing in Formula 2. Some think it might be too soon for Antonelli, despite all the talk about him.
At the same time, a tempting option is Max Verstappen, who has a deal with Red Bull until 2028. Even though opt-out clauses are common in contracts, Verstappen is now riding high on an unprecedented streak of domination in Formula 1, accumulating more wins in a three-year period than any driver in the sport's history.
During his junior year, Mercedes showed interest in Verstappen, but Red Bull was able to secure an F1 spot for him instead. Bringing Verstappen on board would likely be on the table for Mercedes for the 2025 season.
