Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s much-anticipated F1 debut with Mercedes was cut short after just 10 minutes during FP1 at the Italian Grand Prix. The 18-year-old, filling in for George Russell to gain his first F1 experience during a grand prix weekend, initially set the fastest lap of the session. However, he spun off at Parabolica, crashing into the wall. With Antonelli expected to replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes next season, it was a shaky start to the Italian teenager’s F1 career. The session was red-flagged as a disappointed Antonelli climbed out of the damaged car, which was then recovered, allowing FP1 to resume after a 10-minute delay.
