Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in FP 2 today just as he had in FP1 in the morning at the F1 Korean Grand Prix. He clocked 1:38.673 in his Mercedes and beat Sebastian Vettel's time of 1:38.781.
Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and Mark Webber of Red Bull were third and fourth quickest as they set a time of 1:38.797 and 1:38.844 respectively. The top four drivers were the only ones to set a lap time below 1 minute 39 seconds.
As in FP1, most of the drivers preferred Pirelli's medium compound tyres with the white sidewalls. 10 minutes into the session, Vettel set the tone by lapping the circuit in 1: 39.696 as Lewis Hamilton did the same in 1:40.196.
Kimi Raikkonen, who had crashed at the end of FP1, finally ventured out in his repaired Lotus, though he complained that the car was pulling to the right. Hamilton, in the meanwhile, was picking up pace and finally went past Vettel’s set time.
Soon the drivers pitted for super softs and Hamilton slammed in his time of 1:38.673 to steer clear of Vettel. The Red Bull driver put on the red side-walled Pirellis in a bid to outdo Hamilton but he could manage only second best.
These were the top ten at the end of FP2: Hamilton, Vettel, Rosberg, Webber, Massa, Grosjean, Alonso, Raikkonen, Button and Adrian Sutil
Tomorrow is FP3 and Qualifying. Stay tuned for all the updates!
