Formula 1 has confirmed a significant calendar change for the 2026 season, with the Canadian Grand Prix moving to May to better align with the Miami Grand Prix. Starting that year, the Montreal race will take place on the third or fourth weekend of May, replacing its traditional mid-June slot. This adjustment is part of F1’s efforts to optimize the schedule and reduce travel demands. The change follows the recent announcement of the Monaco Grand Prix shifting to the first weekend of June from 2026 as part of its contract extension through 2031.
The revised schedule allows Montreal, also under contract until 2031, to pair more efficiently with the Miami Grand Prix, held in early May since joining the calendar in 2022. Additionally, the 2025 Formula 1 season will feature an Oceania-Asia opening leg, starting in Australia and moving through China and Japan, before transitioning to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in the Middle East. These updates reflect Formula 1’s commitment to creating a more logical and sustainable race calendar for teams and fans worldwide.
