Aston Martin has officially announced that Lance Stroll will continue to drive for the British outfit for a minimum of two more years. Since he is the son of the team owner Lawrence Stroll, Lance's future was almost certain after this season, but it wasn't made official until Thursday, just in time for the Austrian Grand Prix. Stroll began racing at Aston in 2019 after the Force India squad's assets were acquired by his father Lawrence-led consortium the year before. Since joining the squad, he has completed over 150 F1 starts, with his best finish coming in third twice – in the 2020 Italian and Sakhir events. This latest contract extension ensures that the team's lineup remains unchanged for the third consecutive season, providing much-needed continuity.

Stroll, who won the 2017 European Formula 3 Championship and went on to race in Formula 1 for Williams, revealed that his contract with Aston has been extended. However, Stroll competes on a rolling contract because his family owns the company. Beyond the contract being referred to as a "long-term deal" when it was announced in late 2018, the end date of Stroll's prior contract was unknown as it has not been officially revealed for how long the racer competed for Aston.
The Canadian driver will continue to race with the team until the next set of technical regulations in 2026. He will team up with Fernando Alonso, who inked a new contract in April to stay at Aston Martin until at least the end of 2026.
