Sergio Perez has been forced to delay his decision for his plan for 2017.
While Sergio Perez has a contract to race for Force India for the 2017 season, his future with the team depend on his sponsors agreeing to the new commercial terms to continue supporting his campaign.
Perez was expecting to confirm his future plans ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, but on Thursday, Perez confirmed that the decision was still pending and has not been finalised. However, the Mexican driver does believe that by the next race in Malaysia, an agreement will be made.
While Perez has been linked to the openings at Williams and Renault, it is likely that he will remain with Force India for now, expecting a vacant seat at Ferrari in 2018 predicting Raikkonen’s retirement.
Bringing us neatly to Ferrari, rumours had been flying around the paddock that Mercedes’ technical chief, Paddy Lowe was about to switch camps to Ferrari.
The rumours surfaced due to uncertainty of him extending his contract with the Brackley based team. But Mercedes and Lowe both have dismissed the rumours themselves that it is false.
Toto Wolff was reported to have said that he expects Lowe to continue with the team, while Lowe stated that he has had no conversation with Ferrari regarding the matter.
As Lewis Hamilton leads the championship with 250 points, Nico Rosberg is uncomfortably close, lagging behind by just 2 points as we head into the Singapore Grand Prix. But it was Max Verstappen in Free Practice 1 who topped the time sheets, while Rosberg set the fastest time in free Practice 2 at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
