Ricky Donison has won all four races in the first round of the National Rotax Max Karting Championship.
As the opening round of the National Karting Championship came to a close, the weekend saw Ricky Donison dominate the pack by winning both heats on Saturday. Donison followed up his performance in the pre-finals and final race on Sunday by winning those as well.
Senior Max
After winning the pre-finals, ahead of Ameya Bafna finishing second and Nayan Chatterjee third, Donison had his eyes on the win for the finals.
During the final race of the Senior Max category, Donison got off to a good start and started pulling away from the pack. Bafna, with no testing under his belt at all before the round, drove phenomenally well and claimed second in the finals as well. Despite his best efforts, Bafna just couldn’t catch Donison. Nayan had a rough start as he fell back to sixth place on the first lap. Nayan climbed up the order over the course of the 18 laps and finished third in the final race.
Junior Max
In the Junior Max category, Yash Aradhya who dominated on Saturday, found himself in a tangle with Chirag Ghorpade at the first corner. Aradhya retired soon after with engine troubles. Manav Sharma, who started the pre-final race from fourth place, capitalised on it to take the lead. Sharma kept the lead till the flag as Paul Francis behind him just couldn’t find a way past. Francis settled for second with Nirmal Umashankar finishing in third place.
In the finals, Sharma found some clear air after keeping clear of any contact into the first corner. Sharma held on to his lead for the entire 18 lap race to take his second win of the day with a 2.8 second lead. Meco Racing team-mates, Umashakar and Francis found themselves in a battle for second and third. But Umashankar crossed the finishline ahead of Francis to take second. Francis took the final podium spot in the finals.

Despite the fact that Shahan crossed the finishline first, he was awarded a 10-second penalty for a jump start in the race. Yeasash More was awarded the win as Arjun S Nair claimed second in the pre-finals.
In the finals, Ruhaan Alva put up a great fight against Shahan. Shahan had to keep his foot down as much as he could to keep Ruhan at bay.both drivers swapped the lead numerous times, but Shahan managed to keep it together to cross the finishline first to take the victory. Ruhaan finished second with More finishing third.
