Dakar Rally: Al-Attiyah, Price, Patronelli share wins, Loeb crashes on stage 8

Peugeot domination brought to an end by Al-Attiyah in the Mini with a 12 second lead over Carlos Sainz and Stéphane Peterhansel another 19 seconds behind as the 2016 Dakar Rally continued on Monday.

Nasser Al Attiyah, Toby Price and Marcos Patronelli each won Stage 8 in their respective categories.

Cars: Al-Attiyah, on his 38th Dakar entry, managed to charge his way through the stage with a lead of 1'30" over veteran, Sainz at one point and a 6 minute lead over Peterhansel.

As for Sebastian Loeb, the Frenchman rolled his Peugeot only 20 kilometers before the finish of the 393 kilometre, 8th stage of the rally. Both Loeb and Elena walked away uninjured.

Bikes: Toby Price, who started the day with a deficit of 3'12" behind the leader, Paulo Gonçalves, took victory on Monday. Goncalves suffered a crash in which he damaged his navigation instruments which lead the Australian to take advantage and claim the top spot in the general standings with a 2'05" lead over Stefan Svitko who still remains in 3rd in general standings.

Quads: After finishing out of the top 3 in Stage 7, the Patronelli brothers from Argentina finished 1st and 2nd in the Quad category facing no problems throughout the stage. Of the two brothers, Marcos took victory over Alejandro with the Peruvian rider, Hernandez in third.
