Reigning Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) world champion Jorge Lorenzo may have been at India's only F1 grade race track to do promotional work for Yamaha India and their YZF-R3, but his impressions of the facility have left him feeling that the circuit is better suited for something a bit more powerful.
"It's a great circuit," said Lorenzo when asked about his impressions about the Buddh Circuit on which he rode in damp conditions on an R3 and with Yamaha customers in tow. "It's really well fitted, it has great corners and the corners are wide too.
"Also it has a long back straight, which is easily over one kilometre long. It may be a bit too long for this bike (R3) but it should be perfect for a MotoGP bike!"
The three-time MotoGP champion also expressed his hope that the circuit hosts a round on the calendar of the most prestigious two-wheel racing championship in the world soon.
Sadly for Indian motorsport fans, that is not something in the hands of either Lorenzo or even MotoGP's commercial bosses but more so that of the Buddh F1 circuit's owners and promoters.
So far, fans have just been witness to a stalled attempt at bringing the World Superbike Championship in late 2013. Some red tape has been cut with a simplified policy towards the import of racing vehicles and equipment to the country, but the return of F1 or hosting of other high profile events has so far seemed elusive.
