BMW Motorrad has unveiled its latest concept bike, the R20 Concept, at the prestigious Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. A sleek street-style roadster, it features the German automaker's distinctive Boxer engine. The R20 seems to be ready for manufacturing, but BMW hasn't revealed if it will go into mass production. A striking feature of the BMW R20 Concept is its understated styling. The bike's floating bobber-style seat and dramatically shaped fuel tank provide an aggressive look. By removing unnecessary parts, except for the sleek front fender, BMW has further enhanced the streamlined appearance of the concept. The R20 Concept sports a distinctive design and eye-catching features, like the clearly visible Boxer engine.
BMW R20 Concept: Design
The BMW R20 Concept seamlessly blends form and function, almost appearing as if it was built around its massive engine. The bike's front and rear Öhlins Blackline suspension can be fully adjusted. The two-arm Paralever system, renowned for its precision, is also part of the package. The swingarm's upper half is constructed from chrome-molybdenum steel, while the strut is made of aluminium.

While the bodywork of the content is minimal, its craftsmanship is simply superb. The fuel tank is eye-catching, given its unusual form and vibrant colour. The integrated taillights and floating seat stretch smoothly from the rear of the fuel tank. An example of the R20 Concept's excellent workmanship is the 3D-printed aluminium ring, which serves as the headlamp cluster's integrated daytime running light (DRL).
BMW R20 Concept: Engine
The standout feature of the BMW R20 Concept is its air-oil-cooled Big Boxer engine, with 2,000cc of displacement. Because the oil pipes on this concept bike are largely hidden, BMW had to especially design unique cylinder head covers, belt covers, and an oil cooler. The twin loudhailer exhaust pipes on the bike are well crafted as well. In the past, the BMW R Nine T was equipped with a Boxer engine.

If the BMW R20 Concept goes into production and retains its minimalist design, it is likely to be a hit. As a focused and powerful muscle bike, the R20 could be more successful than the R18, which failed to capture the market.
