Bentley’s new Continental GT3 race competed over the weekend in the 2013 Gulf 12 Hours of Abu Dhabi and finished in fourth place. Bentley’s first race car in a decade, was revealed 6 months ago and managed to go up against race cars based on the likes of the Ferrari 458, McLaren 12C and Porsche 911.

After the first six hour session of the race, Bentley was in 3rd place and the team tried its best to maintain that momentum till the final hours. But a close fight with the Ferrari 458 GT3 of Kessel Racing saw Bentley being pushed on the back foot and in the closing minutes of the race with apparent damage to the underfloor, the GT3 had to do the final lap at a low speed.

Powered by the twin-turbocharged 4-litre V8, the GT3 punches out 600bhp and the men behind the wheel were Bentley factory drivers Guy Smith, Steven Kane and Andy Meyrick, as the car managed to run throughout the 12 hour endurance run. The GT3 wil now head to Italy for the 2014 Blancpain Endurance Series which will see it racing against some seasoned drivers and established teams.
