The venue for the inaugural round of the all-electric FIA Formula E Championship has been revealed to be in the streets surrounding the Chinese capital Beijing's striking 'Bird's Nest' stadium that served as the venue for athletics and the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

The Chinese leg of the ten-round Formula E Championship will be held on the 13-14 September weekend. The season is scheduled to conclude on June 27, 2015.

The 3.44 kilometer long, 20-corner street circuit is still subject to homologation by the FIA, which has decided to hold the events of the inaugural Formula E season entirely in city-centre based circuits in order to raise awareness for the series as much as possible.

It is believed coming Formula E seasons are expected to see the cars on traditional circuits as well, however, nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

For the inaugural season, the participating teams, including India's Mahindra Racing are to be handed the equally prepared cars only during a race weekend as the FIA will keep the cars in storage prior to an event. This lays the emphasis on a team to run simulation modules in order to prepare their two drivers for taking on the challenges of the venue they go to along with 18 other drivers from the other nine teams in the series.

Team China Racing is to be the event organizer along with the FIA, Formula E and the Chinese motor sport federation.
