Aditya Patel ended the 2015 Audi R8 LMS Cup on an positive note by winning the final race of the season in Shanghai.
Coming into the weekend, Patel was sixth in the championship with a slim chance of taking the title. However, any hope of a surprise result ended when a penalty for technical infringement demoted him to the 17th on the grid for race 1.
But Patel managed to move up the order, finishing inside the top 10 in ninth. He also set the fastest time of the race, which put him on pole position for race 2.
Now at the front of the pack, Patel showed good pace, building a buffer on his more experienced rivals to take a comfortable victory. The result allowed him to move up to fourth place in the final standings.
“It’s been a crazy year and there’s no better way than to top it off with a pole to flag victory in the final race," said Aditya Patel. "The team did a fantastic job to get the car ready for qualifying. The penalty after qualifying meant a change in strategy, and it turned out to be perfect!"
