This season, Arjun Maini, an Indian racer, will add strength to the Haupt Racing Team's (HRT) competitive lineup in the Pro Cup of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe. In this year's highly competitive series, Maini teams up with Jusuf Owega of Germany and Michele Beretta of Italy. The Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe has been run by the SRO Motorsports Group since 2020, and HRT has been a regular competitor in this endurance championship since its start. The previous season, HRT achieved their peak by winning the Silver Cup in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup for both drivers and the team. In the Endurance Cup, the team not only won their class but also finished on the podium twice, ultimately placing second in the highly competitive Bronze Cup.
Where will Maini and HRT Compete?
The Endurance Cup races will be the team's primary focus this season. There will be more than fifty GT3 cars competing from nine different manufacturers. With HRT's #77 Mercedes-AMG GT3, Arjun Maini, brother of Kush Maini, will partner Jusuf Owega and Michele Beretta over five race weekends, including the legendary Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa. Jusuf Owega, a junior driver for Mercedes-AMG, has been showing off his skills in GT racing since 2019, and this will be his first season with the Haupt Racing Team.
Arjun Maini said: "After our runner-up finish in the Bronze Cup, we are now competing in the Pro Cup. The competition here is incredibly tough, as the best drivers and teams take part in this category. But I'm optimistic that we'll be up to the task in this competition too. I'm very excited to be working for the Third year with HRT. We have built a strong relationship with all the Engineers and Team members and I believe this will help us to Fight in the Front."
Ulrich Fritz, Chief Executive Officer of Haupt Racing Team said: "Last season in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe was our most successful to date. The championship in the Sprint Cup and the runner-up finish in the Endurance Cup gives us additional motivation to be successful again this year. We are aware of the great challenge in the Pro Cup and are looking forward to the start of the season."
After a successful season at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, ADAC GT Masters, and Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe, the Mercedes-AMG driver is returning to the DTM for his third year with HRT. With the help of his teammates, Maini finished second in the SP9 Pro-Am category at the prestigious 24-hour race at the Nurburgring, and he also finished second in the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe's Bronze Cup.
