Akhil Rabindra, represented the AGS Events Racing team for the first time last year at the French GT4 Championship. On Wednesday, Akhil announced that he will be back with the same team this year at the European GT4 Championship, 2021, making him the only Indian on the grid. Rabindra is the only Asian to have made it to the Aston Martin Racing (AMR) Driver Academy for two consecutive years - from 2019-20 and 2020-21. He will be driving an Aston Martin Racing V8 Vantage GT4 for all the 12 races across 6 countries of the 2021 season. First-round will commence at Monza, Italy, on the April 16-18. Hugo Conde, 19-year-old French driver will be Akhil Rabindra's teammate for the AGS Events Racing Team.
"I am really looking forward to getting back on the racetrack with AGS Events Racing Team and am excited about the upcoming European GT4 Championship. AGS have had a great GT racing record over the years and I am determined to help them better it even more," said Rabindra.
European GT4 Championship cars are test driven by the FIA and then restricted to have nearly similar power output and performance. Once a car has undergone the approval process by FIA, the teams cannot further modify it. This eliminates the continual development cost for constructors.
