Driving in the Audi R8 LMS Cup series, Indian driver, Aditya Patel has scored valueable points in the inaugural round in China.
Patel finished in the top ten twice during the weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit. After setting the fastest time in the second free practice session, Patel only managed to qualify sixth for the first race. The indian got caught up in the battle between Alex Yoong and Allessio Picarrielo and Yuichi Nakayama during the race and fell back to eight place. As the chequered flag neared, Patel made his move on Nakayama to bag seventh place in Race 1.
Patel started eight on the grid for the second race in which the Indian climbed his way up the order to finish sixth over the course of the race. Rahel Frey, the only female driver on the grid, hailing from Switzerland won the race.
Patel said “It was definitely a tough weekend for me but in the end, I feel like I’ve learned a lot about the new car and am ready to take the positives to Thailand for round two.”
Round 2 of the Audi R8 LMS Cup will be held from July 16-17 in Buriram, Thailand.
