The dates for the 2015 edition of the Force Gurkha Rainforest Challenge India have been revealed as 24 to 31 July, which will be held in Goa just like this year's inaugural RFC India event.
This year's event, organized by New Delhi's Cougar Motorsport and sponsored by Force Motors and Goa tourism was almost universally considered to be a resounding success and a big boost to the profile of competitive off-roading in India.
The Rainforest Challenge India is an offshoot of the Rainforest Challenge that is held in Malaysia and is regarded as one of the toughest off-road events in the world. The Indian edition of the event was an addition to the 'Global Series' of the 'mother event' in Malaysia that includes events in Italy and Russia among other countries.
While the competitors were largely satisfied by the inaugural Rainforest Challenge India event, many of them as well as the organizers felt that there was scope for the event to be a lot tougher for the participants.
In a press release, head of Cougar Motorsport Ashish Gupta stated that the 2015 event's level of difficulty would be increased now that competitors in India had had experience of tackling an event where the use of aids like winches and ground anchors is seen as a first - rather than last - resort.
