The 17th edition of the Maruti Suzuki Raid de Himalaya will kick off on October 9 in Shimla, with 150 drivers and riders participating in the world’s highest rally.
The Raid will traverse through Manali, Dalhousie, and Rangdum before culminating in Srinagar on October 17th for the prize distribution ceremony. In all, participants will cover a distance of 2000kms.
Raid de Himalaya is known for its treacherous route and harsh climate, exposing drivers and riders to temperatures of -21°C at night. This makes this rally the perfect test of endurance and skills. The vehicles are also required to be in top shape, given the tough terrain.
This year, Maruti will be fielding four of their newly launched S-Cross crossovers, with the incumbent Swift hatchback also making its first appearance in the flagship Xtreme category.
Speaking of competitors, nine-time Raid de Himalaya winner Suresh Rana will be the star attraction of the show, and will get behind the wheel of a Maruti Suzuki Vitara. Around 10 female rally drivers are expected to take part in the 17th edition of the Raid, with Bani Yadav the one to watch out for.
