Jaypee Sports International (JPSI) confirmed that they and Formula One Management (FOM) chief Bernie Ecclestone have agreed on a deal to shift the 2014 edition of the Indian F1 Grand Prix to March of the following year.

Speaking to autoX a JPSI spokesperson confirmed that talks had been held between Ecclestone and JPSI's managing director and CEO Sameer Gaur after which both sides agreed to skip 2014 and host the remaining two events of the original contract in 2015 and 2016.

JPSI also released a statement by Gaur: “October-November period suits us better both weather-wise as well as its being festive season but if Formula One Management wants us to hold our race in March, 2015 we don’t have any problem with that.”

News of the 2014 edition of the F1 race being dropped first broke with Ecclestone's comments about the reasons being "very political".

JPSI's spokesperson declined to comment on that stating that those issues were for the F1 teams, FOM and the sports governing body, the FIA, to work out while JPSI were concerned purely with the hosting of the event.

The issue of taxation of the revenues of the F1 teams, and reportedly even the revenue of FOM was first made public by McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh in late September, 2011.
