With only three races left in the MotoGP season, Francesco Bagnaia and Jorge Martin continue their title struggle into Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang. Bagnaia is currently in first place with 389 points, followed closely by Martin with 376 points after the latter won an exciting race in Thailand to cut the deficit. While Marco Bezzecchi remains mathematically in contention with 310 points, the realistic fight is between the top two competitors. There are a possible 111 points available throughout the next three weekends' worth of sprint races. Bagnaia, the current champion, is in for a tough fight from Martin, who is gunning for his first world title and has been progressively gaining ground on Bagnaia over the second half of the 20-event season. Martin's seventh sprint race victory in Thailand and fourth Grand Prix triumph of 2023 raised the stakes considerably.
