Say hello to the new Suzuki Burgman Street 125. This stylish commuter scooter is now a part of our long-term fleet, and for a big guy like me I welcome it with open arms. I have to admit that the TVS NTorq is a joy to ride every day, but it does feel cramped compared to the Suzuki. The Burgman feels very spacious and comfortable. The big seat and the extra leg room are very nice. Even the overall quality of the scooter is very good.

Surprisingly, even though the Burgman looks chunky and big, it actually weighs less than the NTorq. It is very easy to handle and seating position is comfortable and relaxed. The handlebar is a little narrower and higher than most other scooters, but it feels very good. Then, it has also got plenty of storage space and I really find that very convenient. You can store your phone or a small bottle or anything else you would like in the multiple storage spaces, and then under the seat you can put your bags in a safe space.

The engine performance is also very good, as it gets the same 125cc unit from the Access. The bike picks up speed very nicely, and feels very smooth and refined. In fact, the Burgman is actually no slouch on the road and it can be quite fast – just as fast as the TVS NTorq and the Aprilia SR125. So just because it looks like a laid-back scooter, doesn’t mean it can’t be fun at all.

The other good things about the Burgman is the build quality and the ride quality. The suspension setup is very nice and the bike handles well. Unfortunately, it does look a little disproportionate because the body shell is huge and the tyres are tiny. This also affects the way it handles a little bit, and that is where it doesn’t behave as nimble as the NTorq.
If you look at the Burgman it does look premium and it also feels that way. I have just gotten it and have barely ridden it, but I can say that the next few months, the Burgman might just be my new favourite city commuter. Stay tuned for next month as I will be able to give you some more feedback about living with the Suzuki Burgman Street 125.
