Inside Stuff

What do you end up doing the most during the festive season, especially during Diwali? Sit in traffic, lose your cool regularly, and curse unruly, law breaking drivers! Sometimes I wonder, what is there to love about this time of year? Well, love it or hate it, you can’t escape snail’s pace traffic movement. And if you have to go to the market for some work, finding a vacant parking slot is like a treasure hunt. I know I’ve started this long-term report on a negative note, but I’m just voicing what everyone is thinking.

This is the time when you realise how important a car’s cabin is, and you start noticing how good or bad the interiors are. With so much time at hand, I realised just how spacious the cabin of the S-Cross is. It provides so much breathing space that it really does have a calming effect. Now, I’m not saying you’ll attain a state of ‘Zen,’ but at least you won’t feel like the walls are closing in. Shoulder room, especially, was something I was impressed with.

Logbook

The festive season also means friends or family tag along with you to buy Diwali gifts or sweets. So every time I ventured out, the S-Cross was packed with four adults, including yours truly. As the traffic got worse, every passing day, we all ended up spending more time together in the S-Cross. I was getting a bit tired of driving in stop-start traffic, and so I decided to sit in the back. To my surprise, the rear seats are well cushioned, the seat squab is not flat like most vehicles in this segment, and it even has side contours that provide additional support. To add more comfort, the rear bench also reclines, so one couldn’t really ask for more.

My only complaint was that the S-Cross doesn’t come with rear air conditioner vents. But, apart from this, the S-Cross is one comfortable and spacious vehicle. Also, as you all must have noticed our long term S-Cross is blue instead of the brown this month. Well, we always liked the blue, and when it was available Maruti Suzuki was kind enough to send us one. So, here’s to living with this one… now if only we could get the traffic to improve just a little!
