Smooth operator
In the past, I have mentioned how smooth the petrol Ignis’ powertrain is. This is something I have really begun to enjoy. While I normally do not drive during traffic hours, but by the sheer genius of my stupidity I drove straight into the wrong road during peak hour traffic. But thanks to the Ignis AMT, it wasn’t so bad. Firstly, it’s an automatic so that takes care of half the problem of having to deal with a clutch pedal and a gearbox. The other benefit is because the Ignis petrol has such a smooth powertrain this combined with the fact that you do not have to deal with any noise, vibration or harshness, it helps brings down the fatigue level by a huge margin. And because this car is unbelievably fuel efficient for a petrol automatic, it’s not going to burn a hole in your pocket.
You may have noticed that this month I have driven very few kilometres in the Ignis. This is because of having to drive around in other test cars for various comparison tests. Also, I had been driving our long term Jaguar F-Pace for a bit. And while it is a very nice car in its own right, it is not quite the best car to be driving in India traffic conditions as it is just so big and heavy. This is where a car like the Ignis comes through, you simply cannot ignore how well it fits in urban environs. Little wonder it was nominated as the World Urban Car of the Year.
