The explanation for what influences someone’s decision to buy a car in India can be both complicated and simple. To understand what makes a car successful in the Indian market, we must consider a myriad of factors. Exploring these aspects can be complicated and can take the duration of a Netflix episode, or longer. However, if we were to consider what ultimately influences the Indian buyer’s decision to buy a car, the answer would be quite short and simple.
The desirability of small cars is still strong. If a small car is designed well and is backed by the country’s largest sales and service network, it will sell. And in this case, it will most definitely be a Maruti Suzuki.
Within 10 months of its launch, the Fronx has crossed the 1 lakh sales mark. According to Maruti Suzuki, this achievement sets a new benchmark in the segment, outpacing its cousin, the Grand Vitara, which took 12 months to cross the same milestone.
The reason behind sharing all this is quite simple – given just how much I have enjoyed spending time with the Fronx, I was happy to see the recent success of the car. Plus, I have always believed that the Fronx is a fantastic value-for-money car and deserves more attention, which it didn’t get at the time of launch because it was launched along with the Jimny. As for the Jimny, well, it didn’t turn out the success that it was expected to be. It’s clear now that the time of the Fronx has finally begun, and I am sure that it will only get better.
