There have been two happenings at the Vashist household this month. First, despite the summer holidays on, I have not been able to find time to take my family for a vacation and needless to say, my children are not at all happy with the situation. Secondly, with Delhi NCR getting a brutal summer onslaught this year, it’s been a test of the air conditioning systems – of cars and buildings both. And thankfully, the Ertiga has come out with flying colours as far as effectiveness of the air conditioning system is concerned.
Despite its large glasshouse and fairly big interior space, the air conditioning system of the Ertiga has worked very well. The climate control system helps too, as I usually set the cabin temperature at 23 degrees and the car gets cooled quickly and makes the interior a nice place to be. And despite the liberal use of air conditioning, the fuel efficiency of the Ertiga has remained rock steady at 16km/l. I’ve been meaning to test the fuel efficiency of the Ertiga on a long trip, but like I said earlier there’s been no opportunity to do so yet, and I hope to remedy that soon. It’ll be interesting to see if the added load on the air conditioning system affects the efficiency of the car in the summer.
