Sweat the Details

In the five months that we’ve had the Baleno from Maruti Suzuki, we’ve enjoyed it thoroughly. It has spoilt us somewhat with its features and creature comforts.

But, this month, we thought we’d pay attention to the tiny details. For instance, the quality of the reversing camera is displayed beautifully on the screen of the infotainment system. As a result, parking is easy in tight spots because of it. It’s a must-have feature when buying the Baleno. On the other hand, the climate control buttons could use back lighting – or at least the important buttons could have had a different texture to identify them at night.

Logbook

The electric power steering wheel is very light in traffic, but it can be a little slow to respond to fast, aggressive inputs – like when you’re avoiding a pothole or obstacle. Be gently with it though, and it’ll reward you. However, the navigation system takes a lot of getting used to. Let’s just say that the system is over zealous with instruction. The voice command works beautifully though. Plug in an iPhone and you can chat to Siri to your heart’s content.
