Catch you on the flip side

The Ford Fiesta is undoubtedly one of the most neglected cars on the market. Initially, I too had some reservations. But the more I drove it, the more I found out how capable it really is. This is why I’m slightly gutted that I have to say goodbye to our long-term Fiesta. Although I have to say that my kids weren’t too crazy about the Fiesta – but their logic is that if it doesn’t have a sunroof then it’s not a fun car. So that’s an important tip.

Initially, I was told by many that the Fiesta’s cabin is quite cramped. After driving this car for five months, I would like to clear the air and say that the interior is very spacious – at least for passengers short of 5-feet, 10-inches in height. Even with two hyper-active children in the back, I never heard any complaints from anyone.

Logbook

I know the word ‘premium’ is one of the most abused words in the automotive industry, but trust me the Fiesta has an air of sophistication – both from the outside, and the inside. And since you can see how good it looks – at least the front end after the facelift – I’ll talk about the features in the cabin. The Microsoft-based infotainment system is one of the most technologically advanced systems in the segment. Within a couple of seconds, my smartphone is paired, and the Ford Sync system let’s me control all the functions via voice command – one that actually works. As for my text messages, the system actually reads them out to me – so I don’t even have to touch my phone. This can get a little tricky at times though. As for comfort, the seats provide excellent back support – and, with side bolsters, they keep you snug and tight.

Being a Ford, the Fiesta is one fun car to drive. The handling is so phenomenal that taking corners is like child’s play. And even if the car goes through a pothole-riddled road, it’s not a problem as the suspension cushions all bumps with ease.

I for one, will really miss the Fiesta as it’s truly a driver’s car without sacrificing on style and comfort. What else can one ask for?
