New Tesla Model Y Spotted Next to Previous-gen Model in India
While the Model Y is available in three variants globally, Tesla is expected to launch only the rear-wheel-drive and long-range AWD variants in India initially.

The upcoming Tesla Model Y has been spotted wrapped in camouflage, parked alongside the previous-generation version, offering a glimpse of its design updates. This sighting marks a significant moment for Tesla’s presence in the Indian market, hinting at the brand’s readiness to expand its global EV footprint. The new Model Y features subtle styling revisions, likely part of a broader refresh aimed at enhancing its appeal ahead of the official launch. Its placement next to the older model highlights key exterior changes and previews what potential buyers can expect. With Tesla’s plans for localised production and the continued growth of EV infrastructure in India, this test mule suggests the new Model Y may be nearing its launch.

The Model Y recently underwent a significant overhaul, with its design fine-tuned for both visual impact and aerodynamic performance. The reprofiled bumpers help reduce drag to 0.22 Cd, while a new ducktail spoiler and sportier diffuser lend the SUV a more assertive stance. The front end has been modernised with sharper, streamlined headlamps connected by a sleek light strip, and the rear now wears a full-width red LED light bar, echoing cues from the revamped Model 3.
Enhancements also include new air vents, a front-facing camera, and integrated indicators on the wing mirrors. Wheel options are expected to include 19-inch black alloys and 20-inch silver-finished units, while the colour range will likely cover six shades, including Pearl White, Stealth Grey, Ultra Red, and Diamond Black.

Globally, the Model Y’s AWD setup is paired with a long-range battery pack, offering an EPA-estimated 526 km of range, a top speed of 200km/h, and a 0–96km/h sprint in 4.6 seconds.
