In an age where a pocket phone with some fancy filters pretend to do the job of the pros, some still go old school
Photography, these days everyones seems to be at it. If you own a smartphone and use instagram you could classify yourself as a photographer, but thats like calling yourself an accountant because you own a calculator.
Pro photographer Shivraj Gohil uses anything but a smartphone. Based in London, UK, his motorsport images caught the eye of F1 websites and fans alike through his twitter feed, even though they were taken as a spectator. He has been living a life long dream since, given Formula 1 accreditation albeit only a handful of times as he still chases the elusive contract.
“Badger GP published a handful of shots from a few races I attended in 2012. I shot through the fencing from grandstands and general admission areas and the feedback was amazing. So they they lined me with up with accreditation at the final F1 test at Barcelona for the 2013 season”
His foot was firmly in the door with outstanding images and he was asked to cover the first test of 2014 at the Jerez Circuit, which meant being one of the first people to witness the new Formula for 2014.
“I was at the end of the pitlane when the first car rolled out, it was Lewis Hamilton’s AMG Mercedes, it was quite something to see. Amongst all the chaos I forgot to wear my earplugs, but by the time the he passed me, I knew I wouldn’t be needing them.”
