Action cam manufacturer GoPro has launched two new cameras in India – the Hero and the Hero13 Black. The former is the company's 'smallest, simplest 4K' camera priced at Rs 23,990, while the latter is the top-of-the-line action camera available at Rs 44,990. Both cameras have their own unique set of features but are built upon common GoPro patented technologies.
Interestingly, the Hero13 Black can also be picked out as the Hero13 Black Creator Edition, costing Rs 64,990. The Creator Edition comes with Volta Power Grip, Media Mod, and Light Mod. Potential buyers can also opt for the activity-optimized Hero13 Black Accessory Bundle for a price of Rs 49,990. The Accessory Bundle includes Hero13 Black, a floating hand grip, an extra Enduro battery, an extra Curved Adhesive Mount, a 64GB SD card, and a carrying case. Both these two along with the top-of-the-line Hero13 Black model are already available for pre-order through online retail partners, including Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, and Reliance Digital. According to GoPro, pre-order shipping and retail on-shelf availability will commence on September 10, 2024.

Meanwhile, pre-orders for the smallest Hero camera are scheduled to begin on September 16, and its pre-order shipping and retail on-shelf availability will start taking place on September 22. Here's what the Hero and the Hero13 Black bring to the table:
GoPro Hero: Specifications
As said earlier, the GoPro Hero is the smallest GoPro yet. It is also the lightest camera, weighing only 86 grams. This makes it 46 per cent lighter and 35 per cent smaller than the Hero13 Black. The device comes with an LCD screen in addition to a mode button for swapping modes.
As for its other capabilities, the GoPro Hero allows you to record a video at 4K/ 30fps or 1080p/ 30fps, while the camera can capture a slow-mo video at up to 60fps in HD 1,080p. The Hero supports a 16:9 aspect ratio for YouTube-optimised horizontal video recording, while its Enduro battery is said to provide up to 100 minutes of continuous recording on a single charge. The battery can be charged with a USB Type-C port. The device is rated to be waterproof up to 5m.
GoPro Hero13 Black: Specifications
Moving to the top-of-the-line camera, the GoPro Hero13 Black brings swappable HB-series lenses, consisting of the Ultra Wide Lens Mod (Rs. 9,990), Macro Lens Mod (Rs. 12,990), ND Filter 4-Pack (Rs. 6,990), and Anamorphic Lens Mod. The first three lenses will be available to order from September 10, while the pricing of the Anamorphic Lens Mod is yet to be announced. The Anamorphic Lens Mod will go on sale next year.
Do note that the GoPro Hero13 Black automatically detects each of the lenses to provide optimal settings based on the lens type and the environment. The lenses are only compatible with GoPro-patented HyperSmooth stabilization and are scratch- and splash-resistant.
Coming to its recording capabilities, the Hero13 Black's 13X Burst Slo-Mo can capture up to 400fps at 720p, 120fps at 5.3K, and 360fps at 900p. The camera supports 10-bit Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR video with a wider colour gamut, as well as comes with customisable audio tuning for enhanced sound quality. Whereas you can capture 12-megapixel photos with the smallest GroPro, the Hero13 Black allows you to capture 27-megapixel photos with HDR, along with RAW photos. The device houses an LCD screen up front and a touchscreen at the back. It also gets GPS and performance stickers to help track speed, path, terrain, altitude, and g-force, and offer support for geotagging. Custom present and improved QuikCapture also form part of the mix.

It is waterproof up to 10m, and gets faster Wi-Fi 6 tech and Snap and Go Magnetic Latch mounting.
