Genesis X Gran Equator SUV Unveiled as Brand’s First-Ever Adventure Concept
A dual-motor setup, possibly based on the GV60 Magma’s 641bhp system, could give the Genesis X Gran Equator strong performance on-road and off-road alike.

Genesis has pulled the wraps off the X Gran Equator SUV – its boldest concept yet and the brand’s first dedicated foray into the adventure segment – at the 2025 New York International Auto Show. Unveiled as a striking, all-electric design study, the Gran Equator reinterprets Genesis’ signature “Athletic Elegance” for off-road exploration. Riding on a modified version of the Kia EV9’s platform, the concept blends futuristic styling with rugged, go-anywhere utility. From its imposing stance and 24-inch all-terrain wheels to a split tailgate with built-in seating, the SUV signals real-world adventure potential. Inside, the four-seat layout embraces analog-inspired technology and luxury detailing, tailored for both comfort and capability. The X Gran Equator marks a new direction for Genesis, signaling its intent to venture beyond urban luxury.
Genesis X Gran Equator: Commanding Appearance

Visually, the X Gran Equator redefines Genesis' “Athletic Elegance” for the wild. Its stretched proportions – a long hood, compact front overhang, and upright windshield – recall rugged shooting brakes more than everyday SUVs. A smooth, grille-free nose lends it a futuristic character, punctuated by signature Two-Line LEDs that extend into the flared fenders, suggesting integrated signal elements. Four bold X-shaped fog lamps and a prominent skid plate lend the front fascia a purposeful edge.

From the profile, the concept exudes capability with 24-inch alloy wheels wrapped in chunky all-terrain tires, emphasized by silver trim and dark wheel arch surrounds. Silver roof rails enhance practicality for gear-hauling needs. At the rear, a horizontally split tailgate opens wide to reveal retractable seating, turning the back of the vehicle into a built-in lounge for camping or event use. Mirrored Two-Line LED taillights tie the rear design neatly to the front, delivering a unified, high-tech aesthetic.
Genesis X Gran Equator: Cabin and Features
The interior of the Genesis X Gran Equator Concept breaks free from conventional norms, delivering a design that blends nostalgic charm with modern innovation. Ditching the traditional touchscreen centrepiece, the cabin instead offers a clean, analogue-inspired layout accented by digital finesse. Three compact displays sit behind the wheel, acting as digital gauges, while four smaller circular screens are embedded within the dash, each dedicated to managing infotainment, vehicle settings, and terrain-focused data.

Overhead, a segmented panoramic roof grants each occupant their skylight, enhancing the sense of personal space and openness. A refined mix of durable finishes and upscale materials – draped in soft sky-blue and sand tones – creates a relaxing, outdoor-ready atmosphere.
Genesis X Gran Equator: Powertrain
Built atop a tailored version of the Kia EV9’s electric chassis, the concept hints at flexibility beneath its skin. Although unveiled as a pure EV, a future production model is expected to support hybrid and electric variants.
