Volvo Cars India is set to launch the new XC90 facelift on March 4, 2025, bringing the refreshed flagship SUV to Indian roads. The updated XC90, which made its global debut in September last year, features significant design enhancements and updated features. This marks the second major facelift for the second-gen model since its introduction in 2014. As Volvo’s flagship offering, the XC90 continues to emphasise luxury, safety, and advanced technology, staying competitive in the premium SUV segment. With its modernised look and improved features, the new XC90 is expected to attract both existing customers and new buyers. The launch highlights Volvo's commitment to expanding its footprint in India with vehicles that blend Scandinavian elegance with innovative automotive technology.

Volvo XC90 Facelift: Powertrain Details

The 2025 XC90 retains its core powertrain setup with only minor adjustments. It continues to be equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid system, delivering 251bhp of maximum power and 360Nm of peak torque.

Additionally, a plug-in hybrid variant is available, featuring the same petrol engine paired with an 18.8kWh battery pack and an electric motor. Volvo reports that this version can achieve a combined range of approximately 800 km, including 70 km of electric-only driving.

The XC90 comes with an automatic transmission as a standard feature, along with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system for enhanced grip and stability. The mild-hybrid variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. To further improve ride comfort, Volvo has introduced Frequency Selective Damping (FSD) technology in the suspension system, enabling the dampers to respond dynamically to varying road conditions.

Volvo XC90 Facelift: Cosmetic Updates

The 2025 Volvo XC90 facelift brings a significant design refresh, giving it a look more reminiscent of the all-electric EX90. However, unlike the EX90’s solid front panel, this updated model features an active grille with a redesigned pattern and a more refined front bumper. The use of chrome elements has been kept to a minimum, while the Thor’s Hammer LED daytime running lights remain a standout detail.
