Tata Motors has officially discontinued the 40kWh Long-Range (LR) variants of the Nexon EV in India, streamlining its electric SUV lineup. With this update, only the 45kWh Long-Range (LR) and 30kWh Medium-Range (MR) variants remain on sale. The move comes as Tata Motors focuses on optimising its EV portfolio, ensuring a clearer distinction between range options for buyers. The Nexon EV 45kWh LR continues to cater to long-distance commuters, while the 30kWh MR variant remains an accessible choice for urban users. Despite the 40kWh version's discontinuation, the Indian automaker has ensured that the Nexon EV lineup retains its appeal with a balance of performance, range, and affordability. Tata Nexon EV: The Latest Update
With the most recent update, Tata Motors has removed the 40.5kWh battery variants from the lineup, simplifying its offerings. The company introduced the larger 45kWh battery pack in September last year, which now takes over as the long-range option. Following this revision, the Nexon EV is now available in ten trims, with the MR variant starting at Rs 12.49 lakh and the 45kWh model priced from Rs 13.99 lakh (both ex-showroom). Tata Nexon EV: Mechanical Details
The Nexon EV MR with a 30kWh battery, offers a range of 275 km. This variant generates 127bhp and 215Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 9.2 seconds. Using a fast charger, it can recharge from 10 to 80% in approximately 56 minutes.

On the other hand, the EV's 45kWh battery delivers a maximum range of 489 km/charge. It is a front-wheel-drive EV producing 142bhp and 215Nm of torque, allowing it to sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 8.9 seconds. Additionally, it supports fast charging, taking around 40 minutes to go from 10 to 80% when using a 60 kW DC charger.
Tata Nexon EV: Exterior, Interior, and Safety Features
The electric SUV boasts a sportier look, highlighted by a redesigned sequential LED DRL headlamp setup and new alloy wheels. Unlike the petrol variant, which features a blacked-out grille, the Nexon EV adopts a single-tone body-coloured grille for a more seamless design. Adding to its futuristic appeal, an LED light strip spans the front, serving as a charging status indicator.

The electric SUV is equipped with numerous amenities such as a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument panel, keyless entry with push-button start, a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, Google and Alexa voice assistants, and a nine-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer.

In terms of safety, the Tata Nexon EV comes well-equipped with features such as hill hold and descent control, parking sensors at both ends, six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, electronic stability control (ESC), and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Additionally, the Nexon EV has earned a full five-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests, reinforcing its strong safety credentials.
