The market for mid-size SUVs has experienced substantial demand lately. Particularly with the arrival of products like the Black Shark Edition Jeep Compass 4X2 automatic version and the new Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts. With the Hector and the Hector Plus, MG Motor has been one of the most well-liked competitors in this market, and in a recent development, the Indian division of the British car manufacturer has implemented a price hike for its most popular Hector SUV. Following this, the retail price of the model has been increased by Rs 40,000. The starting price of the car now stands at Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). MG Hector: Design Elements
On the styling front, the front fascia has a large diamond-patterned grille featuring chrome surrounds. The ADAS sensors are housed in a redesigned lower bumper. Hector lettering on the tailgate, new lower bumper, and connected blade LED taillamps are added to the rear. In the 2023 iteration of the SUV, numerous components remain unchanged from before, such as the body panels. Further, the car is outfitted with 18-inch alloy wheels that have an appealing five-spoke dual-prong design.
MG Hector: Engine and Transmission Options
Coming to the powertrain options, the Hector is equipped with both diesel and petrol engines under the hood. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol mill puts out 250Nm of maximum torque and 141bhp of peak power, while the 2.0-litre diesel engine delivers 350Nm of peak torque and 168bhp of maximum power. With turbo-petrol engines exclusively, a CVT transmission is offered; a six-speed transmission is standard.
MG Hector: Feature Set
A host of conveniences are included with the SUV. The highlights include a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a motorised tailgate, wireless phone charging, multicoloured ambient lighting, and a 7-inch fully digital driver's display. Electronic stability control (ESC), up to six airbags, and ABS with EBD all contribute to the occupants' increased safety. The model's advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) offer many safety features such as auto emergency braking, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and front collision warning.
