Kawasaki Versys-X 300 to Launch in India by Year-end; Here's What We Know So Far
Upon launch, the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 will compete with the KTM 390 Adventure, BMW G310 GS, and Royal Enfield Himalayan in the domestic market.
Recently, the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 was spotted undergoing testing in India. The model was available for purchase in our market before the implementation of the BS6 norms in 2020. On the mechanical front, the Versys X-300 will be powered by the same 296cc engine that pulls the Ninja 300. According to several industry reports, the Japanese bikemaker intends to develop the bike locally for the Indian market. Following the Ninja 300 and W175, this will be Kawasaki India's third locally assembled motorcycle. Expect it to have similar levels of localisation as the Ninja 300, which could include body panels, features, tyres, engine, and other components. The Versys-X 300 is expected to arrive on our shores by the end of 2024.

Kawasaki Versys-X 300: Engine Specs
The motorcycle's specs, design, and equipment are expected to remain essentially unchanged. The Ninja 300's 296cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine develops 39bhp of maximum power at 11,500rpm and 26Nm of peak torque at 10,000rpm. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and assist. The Versys is expected to have similar power and torque figures. The bike will likely have dual-channel ABS and a basic semi-digital display, without any sophisticated riding aids.

In terms of appearance, the previously spotted test mule featured the same headlamp, tall visor, and scooped-up seat as the global-spec model. With a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel combination, the Versys-X 300 will continue to be equipped with spoked wheels and tubed tyres. It has an estimated weight of 185kg and a ground clearance of 180mm. The model is more suited for rough-road touring than for serious off-road adventures, even though it has less than 150mm of suspension travel.
