The show-stoppers at the Hero MotoCorp pavilion were the HX250 and XF3R concept. The HX250 is being showcased for the second time in an Auto Expo and the company has decided to drop ‘R’ in the end. The HX250 is now close to production and the delay was because Hero was working in tandem with Erik Buell Racing (EBR), but unfortunately the latter filed for bankruptcy.
The HX250 will get 249cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, liquid cool engine, which will also have fuel-injection. It’s power output will be 31bhp and 26Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission. According to Hero, the HX250 can do 0-60km/h in 2.7 seconds.
This new 250cc motorcycle will come with twin projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED taillamps, underbelly exhaust, clip-on handle bar, split seats, digital instrument cluster and dual riding modes -- City and Sport, which is a first in the segment. HX250 will come with Pirelli tyres and has 300mm disc brake in front and 220mm disc at the rear.
The XF3R concept, on the other hand, is a 300cc performance oriented naked street bike. It has an aggressive riding stance and comes with bright orange alloy wheels with Pirelli Sport tyres, a single-sided monoshock, and twin-port exhaust that is underneath the rider’s seat. The rear turn indicators are integrated into the tail light cluster which uses LED tail lamps.
