With a power delivery of 750bhp and weight 50kgs lesser than before, the new Aventador Superveloce will do 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds.
That’s a challenge with sequels. Anything that follows a legendary product is under tremendous pressure, from the time it grows in someone’s mind. Pressure to not only carry forward the legacy, but also to outperform the predecessor. The same thing folks at Automobili Lamborghini had in mind when they started making the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce which made its debut today at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new avatar of the iconic Aventador has more power, improved aerodynamics and enhanced technologies along with the Aventador’s DNA, dynamic superiority and exceptional driving precision. The new car weighs 50kgs lesser than the previous version and the power output has been increased to 750bhp. These figures help the Superveloce reach a top speed of over 350km/h.
At the time of the launch, Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said, “The new Aventador Superveloce continues the Lamborghini tradition of SV models, pushing the boundaries in terms of performance and pure driving emotion. The original Aventador was presented four years ago, and the Superveloce pays homage to its passionate owners, as well as the fan community, whose enthusiasm has resulted in the biggest commercial success ever of a Lamborghini V12 super sports car. In the Superveloce Lamborghini’s expertise in lightweight engineering is clearly evident. With technological features which, combined with design, quality standards and craftsmanship, the Superveloce results in the most exclusive, pure and emotional production model in the history of our brand.”
Another new addition is the electromechanical Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS), which adapts the steering ratio to road speed and to the dynamic mode selected. It has been specifically tuned for the Superveloce and it ensures even greater stability at high speed, while making it significantly easier to maneuver at low speed.
The 6.5-litre V12 engine that is used in the Aventador has been redesigned for the Superveloce. This is complemented by a lightweight exhaust system. The maximum power (750bhp) now gets delivered at 8,400rpm.
The key characteristics of the car – engine, transmission, differential, dampers and steering – can all be adapted to individual driver preferences using the three different driving modes – Strada (road), Sport and Corsa (race-track).
The rear of the Superveloce has been redesigned to give an open, exposed feel. The car’s extreme, lightweight character is immediately visible by the carbon-fibre parts all over it. A large rear diffuser on the underside and vertical fins improve the air flow from the optimised underbody.
Superveloce is also world’s first production car to feature Lamborghini’s innovative Carbon Skin material which is the lightest material available in the world. It incorporates a highly specialised resin, the woven carbon fiber fabric is extremely soft to the touch, yet very hard-wearing. The Superveloce’s inner roof and parts of the cockpit are clad in this highly exclusive material.
This super exclusive Aventador has been priced at € 3,27,190 and the car will be introduced in the European market in late spring 2015.
