The Ford Mustang is finally here! Ford had showcased the Mustang on January 28th for the first time in India before the Auto Expo.
What made it the showstopper of the 2016 Auto Expo is that the Mustang literally had the crowd on its feet for hours at the Ford pavilion.
Ford has promised the 6th generation Mustang will be launched in India and sales of the iconic, heritage laden muscle car will commence in the second quarter of 2016. What is even more exciting is that the Mustang will feature the thoroughbred 5-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine that develops 420bhp and 529Nm of torque. For India, the Mustang will come with a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and rear-wheel drive. Ever since its inception back in 1964, this 6th generation American muscle car will be the first ever right-hand drive Mustang produced.
There is no equivalent car capable to compete with the Mustang in India. Therefore, it all comes down to the price. Ford is expected to launch the V8 muscle car around the `70-80 lakh price range. Therefore, the only 2 door, coupe or convertibles in that range currently in India are the Audi TT, the BMW Z4 and the Mercedes-Benz SLK Roadster.
Going by the response of the public at the Ford stall at Auto Expo, it seems there are many potential buyers who are eagerly waiting for the Mustang to make its debut. Like them even we can’t wait any longer.
