Like the current range of Aprilia SR scooters, the new SXR will also go on sale in the 125cc and 160cc versions. Online bookings for the SXR 160 will open in August 2020.
At the ongoing Auto Expo 2020, Piaggio Group today revealed a new scooter model, which will come to our market this year. Dubbed the SXR, it will be available in two versions – the 125cc and 160cc – much like the current SR range of Aprilia scooters. Aimed at buyers who're interested in premium two-wheelers, the SXR range will compete with other maxi-scooters on sale in India, like the Suzuki Burgman Street 125. The Aprilia SXR scooters will be positioned between the Aprilia SR range and the Vespa models. Therefore, expect the prices to be between ₹90,000 and ₹1.2lakh (approx. ex-showroom).
In terms of features, expect the Aprilia SXR 160 and SXR 125 to be fitted with things like all-LED lighting, lit-up under-sear storage, a split glovebox with a USB charging port, 12-inch alloy wheels, fully-digital instrument cluster, and ABS-equipped disc brakes. Both models will be powered by BS-VI compliant engines featuring 3V Fuel-Injection (FI) tech. Also, there will be four colour options to choose from – red, black, blue, & white.
Apart from the SXR 160, Piaggio India also displayed the 2020 facelift versions of its Vespa scooter range (Vespa RED/Vespa SXL/Vespa VXL) and disc-brake-equipped versions of the Aprilia SR 160 and Aprilia Storm 125. An eye-catching Vespa Racing Sixties Limited Edition scooter was also showcased today.
