Taking its commitment to connected, electric, and autonomous mobility to the next level, MG Motor today showcased its Marvel X autonomous electric SUV at the Auto Expo 2020. While it may look like an ordinary electric SUV (like the ZS EV), the Marvel X's claim to fame is that it is the world's first mass-produced car to achieve Level-3 autonomous driving capability (as claimed by MG themselves). Alongside the Marvel X, the eMG6 sedan also caught our fancy, which is essentially a plug-in hybrid version of the regular MG 6 sedan.
Now, don't expect either of these models to make a commercial debut in India because MG Motor India has no plans of bringing these models here in the near future, and further, the SAIC-owned marque wants to focus on its aim to have an SUV-heavy line-up for the Indian market. These two models are here simply to demonstrate MG's commitment in terms of clean mobility.
However, keeping in mind that the Marvel X is about the same size as the Tata Harrier, and the ZS EV is relatively smaller, the Marvel X sure does have the potential to spawn an India-spec version for those who wish to own an electric SUV with more hauling capability than the ZS EV. As for the eMG6 hybrid sedan, it's presence in India purely depends on if and when MG Motor India decides to diversify its Indian product portfolio.
