It's been a while since Mercedes brought an AMG model to the Indian shores. The previous AMG launch in India, the C43 Coupé, was an entry-level model to bring in more customers into the AMG product family. Today, however, Mercedes-Benz India has launched a serious & hardcore AMG model at the Auto Expo 2020 (don't let the 4-doors fool you). In fact, it even holds the Nürburgring record for being the fastest series-production sedan out there, and it's the AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC 4-Door Coupé. It'll set you back by an eye-watering ₹2.42 crore (ex-showroom).
The 4-door AMG GT Coupé, in the 63 S version, comes fitted with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, which sends 630bhp & 900Nm to all four wheels (4MATIC). The engine comes paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and thanks to all-wheel-drive, the four-door AMG GT 63 S Coupé reaches 100km/h from standstill in just 3.2 seconds. In terms of competition, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé goes head-to-head with the Porsche Panamera Turbo.
Alongside the launch of the AMG monster, Mercedes-Benz India also announced the opening of bookings for the new 2020 GLA compact crossover and the new A-Class Sedan. While the Indian market is already familiar with the GLA product line, the A-Class Sedan – it will be called the A-Class Limousine here – will be a new product. Expect the new GLA to launch sometime in October 2020 (priced at approx. ₹43 lakh ex-showroom) and the A-Class Limousine to arrive in June 2020 (priced at approx. ₹40 lakh ex-showroom). Moreover, customers who pre-book the new GLA/A-Class sedan get a ₹1 lakh discount.
