UM expands its India range, while at the same time entering the potentially huge EV space.
UM has showcased two new members of its Renegade series in India, the Renegade Thor and Renegade Duty – the former being an electric motorcycle.
The renegade Thor is an interesting motorcycle to begin with. As stated, it is an EV that generates 70Nm of torque from its electric motor. It also features the world’s first 5-speed gearbox (on an EV) with hydraulic clutch and liquid-cooling. Furthermore, the bike is also equipped with a reverse gear for easy maneuvering. Its range can vary between 81 and 270km and between 7.5 and 27kWh. WIth the available fast charging, the Thor’s battery can go upto 80 per cent in 40 minutes.
The second bike is the long rumored low-cost version of the Renegade. Available in two trim levels – Renegade Duty S and Renegade Duty Ace – the bike is powered by a 223cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine good for producing 16.5bhp of power and 17Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed gearbox comes standard.
Pricing for the Renegade Thor starts at Rs 4.90 lakh, while the pricing for the Renegade Duty S and the Renegade Duty Ace starts at Rs 1.10 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). The company has stated that although they have revealed the prices for the above mentioned models, it will be a while before they are officially launched in the market.
