Kia finally unveiled its Hyundai Creta fighter for India, and we can’t wait to get behind the wheel.
The Kia brand finally debuted in the Indian market at Auto Expo 2018. Other than the beautiful Stinger sports sedan, the highlight, of course, is the SP Concept SUV. It shares a platform with the Hyundai Creta, but it very much has its own personality.
Kia is known for its striking designs, and the SP Concept certainly lives up to that billing. It has wraparound head and taillights that reach into the sharp creases, accentuating its strong shoulder line.
Kia’s brand new $1.1 billion USD (? 7,000 crore), 536-acre greenfield manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh will only be operational in the second half of next year, so we’ll have to wait until after that to get behind the wheel. However, having sampled some of Kia’s current line-up, what we can tell you is that you can expect the SP Concept to be of very good quality, very well equipped and a little bit sharper than the equivalent Hyundai from behind the wheel.
Kia also showcased a number of other models from its existing range – of course, the beautiful Stinger sports sedan, a number of plug-in hybrid and EV models that the Korean manufacturer could bring into the country depending on how the automotive landscape develops over the next few years. Kia also announced that it is developing an India-exclusive compact EV.
