We drove a naturally-aspirated V12, convertible Ferrari offering maximum involvement but a torrential downpour threatened to spoil the party.

The biggest question mark in EV ownership is range anxiety – an issue that simply isn’t a concern with the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.

Both these “mods” should provide a great deal of peace of mind and ensure that the BMW M2 looks and feels brand new, hopefully, for a long time to come.

After spending a couple of months with a pair of very impressive luxury EVs—the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV and BMW iX—I may well be.

Personally, I can think of nothing better than an BMW six-cylinder motor, paired to a manual gearbox, sending power the rear wheels.

The BMW M2 lapped the technical part of the Buddha International Circuit at virtually the same pace as the Ferrari Roma (just two-and-a-half tenths of a second slower to be precise).

I have to admit that there was also a bit of trepidation going into the M2’s inaugural day at the track. What if it wasn’t everything I expected it to be – what if it became a case of ‘never meet your heroes’?

This one is a particularly special addition to the fleet – and a permanent one at that! So, stay tuned for regular updates...

You see, while I clearly see the point of maximising screen size for my phone, I can’t quite follow the same logic for the dashboard of my daily driver.

Growth is, after all, cyclical – to expect otherwise would be to forget that ‘Objects in the rear-view mirror are closer than they appear’
