Triumph Thruxton 400 Spotted Testing Overseas Ahead of Launch; Shows Updated Tail Section, and More
The Triumph Thruxton 400 may launch in India in H2 2025, with an estimated ex-showroom price of around Rs 2.50 lakh, though official pricing is yet to be revealed.

Following the launches of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400, Triumph and Bajaj Auto are planning to introduce a new café racer. The latest images show the motorcycle without camouflage or testing equipment, indicating that it is close to production. The model has been previously sighted undergoing trials on Indian roads. The Thruxton 400 is based on the Speed 400’s platform but takes styling inspiration from the larger Thruxton 1200. Spy shots reveal a vintage café racer design, sporting a streamlined front fairing with an integrated apron and windscreen, a sculpted rear cowl, a round headlamp enclosed within the fairing, and low-mounted clip-on handlebars.
While it is expected to share core mechanical components – such as the frame, suspension, wheels, and braking system – with the Speed 400, its more aggressive riding posture and old-fashioned semi-fairing set it apart. Other design elements include an updated tail section, a 'Triumph' nameplate on the engine, rear-set footpegs, a single-piece seat, and bar-end rearview mirrors. With its refined bodywork, an official unveiling by the bikemaker seems imminent.

Triumph Thruxton 400: Engine and Suspension
The upcoming Thruxton 400 is built on the same platform as Triumph’s 400cc range, which includes the Speed T4, Speed 400, and Scrambler 400X. It is expected to house a 399cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine developed in collaboration with Bajaj. This power unit produces 39.5bhp and 37.5Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox, offering a blend of performance and efficiency.
Talking about the hardware setup, spy images suggest the motorcycle will feature upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock, likely with preload adjustability. Braking duties are expected to be handled by disc brakes – approximately 300mm/320mm at the front and 230mm at the rear – supported by dual-channel ABS. The global prototype was seen with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli Rosso tyres, though the Indian version may come fitted with locally sourced MRF or Apollo tyres.
Triumph Thruxton 400: Features
The Triumph Thruxton is likely to come equipped with the same instrument cluster as the Speed 400, featuring a semi-digital setup with an analogue speedometer. The LCD display will provide key ride data, including the odometer, tachometer, trip meters, and fuel level. Additionally, the motorcycle is expected to include an all-LED lighting system, ride-by-wire technology, and traction control for enhanced safety and performance.

The Triumph Thruxton is expected to enter the Indian market in the second half of this year. Although pricing has not been officially disclosed, estimates indicate it could carry an ex-showroom price tag close to Rs 2.50 lakh.
